Alberton power outage: Old infrastructure not designed to be switched on and off

The power outage has disrupted daily life, causing inconvenience and frustration for residents, businesses, and essential services.

After spending two nights without power, Alberton residents have again plunged into darkness due to a power outage.

According to Ward 37 Clr Ivan Naidoo old infrastructure and old gear switches cannot handle the switching off continuously because of load-shedding, it was not designed for this.

Technicians are investigating and working toward a resolution. However, an estimated repair time is not known at this stage.
