Alberton SAPS nabs man for an illegal firearm

After following up on information received from the community, members of Alberton SAPS arrested a man, found with a revolver, on May 7.

Members of Alberton SAPS detained a 36-year-old suspect at one of their Sector Three policing precincts in Rondebult over the weekend.

The men and women in blue followed up on a tip-off which resulted in the arrest of the suspect, who upon his arrest, was found with an illegal firearm, a revolver.

“Our members brought the firearm in and it will serve as part of the evidence in the local court,” said Captain Manare Ramotshela of Alberton SAPS.

The man has since appeared before Germiston Magistrate’s Court on a charge of possession of an illegal firearm.

Station commander Colonel Oliven Letloenyane applauded officers handling the case for a job well done and for continuing to work around the clock to combat crime.
