EMPD to conduct crime-prevention operations amid Easter holidays

EMPD has assured they will be policing and clamping down on any criminal activities and road safety during this busy period.

All motorists are advised to adhere to the rules of the road during Easter time. The EMPD has assured there will be crime-prevention operations during the Easter weekend.

With the Easter weekend and school holidays upon us, the community is urged to be safe and responsible on the roads.

According to the EMPD, most road fatalities are caused by driving under the influence, which is the main contributor, as well as unsafe overtaking, driving with excessive speed and more.

Road safety tip:
• Always buckle up.

• Do a pre-inspection before getting on the road.

• Do not drink and drive under the influence of alcohol or any illegal substances.

• Motorists are urged to obey the prescribed speed limit.

• Avoid using a cellphone while driving.

• Take a rest should you feel fatigued on the road at the nearest petrol station.
