Floyd Brink appointed city manager

The Executive Mayor, Thapelo Amad, welcomes the newly appointed city manager, Floyd Brink.

The Executive Mayor of the City of Johannesburg, Thapelo Amad, announced the appointment of Floyd Brink as the new city manager of the City of Johannesburg.

Brink is a former COO of the city, having served in the role from August 2018 on a four-year contract. He acted as the city manager since the departure of the former city manager in February 2021.

“The appointment of Mr Brink signifies the beginning of an era of bringing certainty and stability to the city by filling critical management positions which had been left vacant for a considerable period. The city has been without a city manager, COO and group CFO for a considerable period. These are three critical positions in the life and work of the city that have been irresponsibly left vacant by the previous administration, jeopardising the city’s administrative capacity and service delivery,” said Amad.

“As a consummate professional, Mr Brink’s leadership qualities, management skills and experience will prove invaluable in our quest to stabilise the finances of the city, accelerate service delivery, find solutions to the energy crisis and help create jobs,” added the mayor.

The mayor wishes Brink well in his new role and is confident that by working with him, the Government of Local Unity will be able to make decisive advances toward the realisation of the world-class African city envisioned in the Growth and Development Strategy (GDS 2040).
