Pikitup distances itself from false jobs message

The fake messages were circulated via SMS, Twitter and WhatsApp.

Pikitup, the waste management company of the City of Johannesburg, has distanced itself from false social media messages that claim it is hiring staff.

Their spokesperson, Muzi Mkhwanazi, said, “Pikitup is not hiring. If the entity does hire people, the vacancies will be advertised in the newspapers and on its website. The messages that Pikitup is hiring were circulated via SMS, Twitter and WhatsApp. They are false and malicious and intended to mislead the public, particularly the multitudes of desperate work seekers.

“Job seekers are requested to ignore such misleading information and refrain from using their much-needed cash to visit the Pikitup offices as a response to false information.

“The public is encouraged to verify any information relating to Pikitup jobs by checking such information on the company’s website before taking action,” he said.
