Nicole is reaching for the stars

Nicole's dream became a reality eight months ago.

An Alberton mom and businesswoman, Nicole Rudman (31), recently competed at the World Fitness Federation (WFF) World Championships, hosted by Indonesia, where she won the performance division and second place in the Miss Sports Model division.

“It was my ultimate dream to represent South Africa at the World Championships. For me to make my dream come true I had to set certain goals and had to place under the top three,” said Rudman.

The dream of competing started 10 years ago after a body transformation challenge. Due to the challenges of life, this dream of hers never became a reality until eight months ago.

“My interest in health, wellness and overall well-being made me create a lifestyle that embodies it.”

Reaching for the stars

“I once read that inspiration comes from those that have overcome odds and combined dedication, focus and the appropriate strategy to achieve their goals.”

Nicole Rudman won the performance division and second place in the Miss Sports Model division.

Rudman entered the WFF Gauteng Provincials earlier this year and was privileged to be invited to the South African Championships. She received first places in both her divisions.

“I am very excited about my journey. I was aiming for the sky, but moved slowly, enjoying every step along the way,” she said.

Due to her busy lifestyle, she did not have the time to go to the gym every day. She started doing home-based training four days a week and attended Alleysway Gym in Linksfield twice a week.

“I do not have any fancy gym equipment at home – only light weights, bands, straps and a stability ball. I believe it is possible to exercise, even though you do not belong to a gym. It is about the fact that we should stop making excuses and make the time because we deserve it,” Rudman explained.

She has a very strict diet which consists of six meals a day.

Rudman believes that failing to plan is planning to fail.

“Prepping up for the week ahead frees you up to make more time for family in a busy schedule. Meal planning and prepping are wonderful skills to have in your personal and wellness toolkit.

“ A well-thought-of meal plan can not only help you to improve the quality of your diet but it also saves you time and money.”

This and that

Rudman would like to thank her sponsors, friends and family who supported her journey. “Thank you for believing in me. Without all of you, this journey would not have been possible.”

Nicole Rudman competed at the World Fitness Federation (WFF) World Championships.

She recently had an opportunity to qualify as a trainer and as a qualified trainer would like to inspire other women who are serious about their health and wellness.

“Women who believe they are too busy or can’t do it at home – it is possible to do it with the right attitude and determination.

“This is where the hard work begins. Why be satisfied with living an average life? Dreams don’t work unless you do. There my journey begins because a good player inspires themselves but a great player inspires others,” said Rudman.

Rudman grew up in Parys in the Free State and has always been an athlete and very active.

Growing up she was involved in swimming and water polo. She competed on the provincial level in both, but after an injury, she had to throw in the towel at the age of 19.

“Life has rolled me a bit, but I came through stronger. I have come to a crossroads in my life and decided that I should take care of myself, my body and my mental health.”
