Successful event hosted by SAPS and CPF

Brackendowns SAPS together with Brackendowns CPF hosted an event to announce and welcome the community in blue patrollers.

A joint event between Brackendowns SAPS and Brackendowns CPF was held recently for the launch of the CPF Community in Blue patrollers.

The event was opened by the station commander Colonel Munaf Ismail who addressed the crowd about the importance of partnership policing as various partners band together to fight crime.

Geoff Steyn, chairperson of the CPF, also addressed the crowd explaining the work the CPF and patrollers do in the community and how important it is to stand together with all partners.

SAPS members, horses, and K9-unit dogs were among the attractions for guests. A wide range of participants, including ward councillors, security companies, businesses, non-profits, emergency services, medical companies, and chaplains, attended the event and showcased their services.

Guests were also given gift bags sponsored by one of the NPOs for women and girls suffering from gender-based violence (GBV). The precinct was also adorned with banners made by students from various schools, chanting and singing against crime.

“They were expressing their support for SAPS in battling crimes and GBV,” said SAPS spokesperson Warrant Officer Gerhard Cornelius.

“The security forces and SAPS partnered up in a crime scenario in which victims were robbed and it fascinated everyone.

“The entire scene was set up as if it were a robbery. Our team arrested the suspects and treated the injuries of the patients.”

Cornelius remarked, “It was so much fun, but it demonstrated how effective partnerships can be when we work together.”

As the day came to an end, a medical helicopter, Rocket, landed at the station, giving all, especially the kids, the opportunity to meet a pilot and explore the machine.

CPF members were thanked for standing by SAPS’ side against the everlasting threat of crime within the community and for their dedication.

In addition, Steyn and Ismail thanked everyone who attended and supported the day.
