Alberton residents ignore traffic signs

An incident on Friday motivated me to write this letter. There is currently a tendency in Alberton to totally ignore traffic signs, especially Stop and Yield signs.

ALBERTON: What happened on Friday at the Lemon Tree shopping centre was just the last straw for me as a frequent road user either by motor vehicle, motorbike and occasionally bicycle. A woman (I have no reason to call her a lady) entered the shopping centre from Swartkoppies Road. I enter the parking area from the Eastern side and entered the roundabout that takes you to the parking area basically parallel with Swartkoppies Road. I was nearly knocked off my Boulevard motorcycle by this person ignoring not only the road ordnance regulation but blatantly the “yield” sign that she encountered when she reached the mentioned traffic circle.

She could obviously see my disapproval and embarked on the most vulgar combination of insults and sign language I have ever heard or seen a “lady” use.

I am hoping that publishing this letter will urge residents to abide by the rules of the road, this way we can avoid situations like this.
