Alberton SAPS welcomes new officer

Alberton SAPS warmly welcomed its new officer, Constable Asanda Gawula, on August 24.

Constable Asanda Gawula is ready to protect and serve the Alberton community after joining the force just a week ago.

The officer from Katlehong was warmly welcomed by Alberton SAPS station commander Colonel Olven Letloenyane.

Gawula holds 11 years of experience as an officer and in those years he has recorded several successful arrests resulting in convictions.

He heeded to this line of work after pursuing a passion for keeping his family, community and the country safe.

“After completing matric, I immediately went to a police academy in the Eastern Cape before being a reservist. I fully joined SAPS in 2009 and later worked at Thokoza SAPS. In 2020, I then resigned as an officer until being recently appointed to Alberton SAPS. In the years of being an officer, I have made numerous arrests,” Gawula said.

He described himself as a hardworking, friendly person who puts others first. His duties include upholding and enforcing the law, the opening of cases and taking statements among others.

Captain Manare Ramotshela of Alberton SAPS welcomed Gawula and described him as an officer who always has a smile on his face.

“He is very welcoming and is already serving our community with a smile. He has a strong moral character. Sometimes we handle cases which were not opened at the station and the Constable handles such cases with care,” he said.
