Ekurhuleni assists in the KwaZulu-Natal disaster rescue

City of Ekurhuleni sent some of its rescuers from different institutions to aid with the Kwa-Zulu Natal floods disaster search and recovery mission.

Four members from the City of Ekurhuleni’s DEMS of Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) are putting their abilities to the trial with other rescue coworkers for the disaster in KwaZulu-Natal.

The sent personnel are some of the rescuers who were previously trained in specialised fields to prepare for future global tragedies caused by natural or man-made disasters.

The four rescuers were part of a team dispatched to KZN by the Gauteng provincial government and hold desired skills, which include swift water, limited space, wilderness, structural, trench, and high angle rope rescues.

Previously the City’s rescuers took part in several local and international rescue missions following earthquakes, tsunamis, and floods.

The city said that is proud of its officials’ important contributions in a disaster-stricken KwaZulu-Natal province.
