The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent. The new home-grown coming-of-age drama, Sodium Day, also starts showing.

Here are this week’s new movie releases at Nu Metro The Glen:

THE LOST CITY (13 V)

The jungle is not ready for this kind of action! Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum are stuck in the jungle and the stars of the hilarious new comedy-adventure, The Lost City.

A reclusive romance novelist on a book tour with her cover model gets swept up in a kidnapping attempt by an eccentric villain (Daniel Radcliffe), which lands them both in a cutthroat adventure. The unlikely pair will need to work together to survive the elements and find the ancient treasure before it’s lost forever.

CHICKENHARE AND THE HAMSTER OF DARKNESS (PG V)

Chickenhare and the Hamster of Darkness is a new animated comedy-adventure, 10 years in the making, about Chickenhare, so named because he’s half chicken, half hare! When the day of the Royal Adventurer Society trials comes, Chickenhare, hampered by his disguise, fails miserably.

But, he is determined to grab a second chance and find the Sceptre of the Hamster of Darkness, before his evil uncle, Lapin does. Accompanied by his faithful servant, Abe, a sarcastic turtle, and Meg, a martial arts expert skunk, he sets off on an epic quest.

THE UNBEARABLE WEIGHT OF MASSIVE TALENT (16 DLV)

Nicolas Cage stars as… Nick Cage, channeling his most iconic and beloved characters in the role of a lifetime in the action-comedy, The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent. See how he must accept a $1-million offer to attend the birthday of a dangerous super-fan. With a career built for this very moment, the seminal award-winning actor must take on the role of a lifetime: Nicolas Cage.

SODIUM DAY (18 DLPV)

Sodium Day is a comedy-drama slice-of-life film about a poor school in the Cape Flats, where things come to a head and explode, just as the sodium exploded when the boys stole some from the science lab and threw it onto the waterlogged school field.

John Shelby High’s Grade 12Y class is the only class doing matric Mathematics. It’s September, a month away from the matric exams, and they still don’t have a math teacher. It’s a tumultuous day in the life of a mixed bag of students at this poor government school.
