This is why women don’t feel safe

I recently had a meeting in town but it was rather busy so I had to park a block away and walk to the building.

I did not think much of it but then realised as I was walking so many men tried to get my attention.

My first thought was I probably should have dressed differently. But I was in jeans and a T-shirt. It was hot so my hair was up, and most of my make-up had melted away. I’m sure there was nothing “sexy” about me walking through town.

But these men clearly thought differently.

These guys were not just standing around waiting to check out the chicks, they were going about their business. Some are in suits, and some are dressed casually. Clean “normal” guys.

There were other women walking around, trying to go about their business and “men” were smirking the same comments at them.

At this point, I realised how often this happens. When you’re walking into a mall or a shop or when you’re in the shop or when your standing waiting for your food at KFC or when you’re trying to put your trolley away.

It happens all the time. No matter where you are, what you’re doing or what you’re wearing.

This is what women deal with daily and this is why we don’t feel safe.
