Salvation Foundation reaches out to spread Christmas cheer

Salvation Foundation showed acts of kindness over the weekend by making a heartfelt different in the lives of others.

The Salvation Foundation team decided to end off the year by holding a Christmas function for a local home for disabled children and by lending a helping hand to the homeless.

On November 28, after having their toy drive, the team started out by presenting the children’s home with soft toys.

They helped prepare a meal for the little ones, as well as food hampers for the hardworking dedicated staff.

Ryan Ellapan of the Salvation Foundation said: “It was in my heart to do something for the children coming this Christmas. We headed out there to drop off the food and toys as well as give them a couple of words of encouragement and offer prayer.”

Part two of the day was having a feeding scheme in Alberton.

The dedicated team had 50 loaves of bread and curry handed out to those who were adversely affected by the flooding in the previous week.

“We went out and handed them a meal with some fruit and a bottle of water to drink. Before handing out the food, we encouraged and prayed with them. The feeding took place at Timbercity Alberton and under the bridges, where most of the homeless people’s things got washed away,” said Ellapan.

He said the leftover food was packed and given out as hampers in Brackendowns, Brackenhurst and Meyersdal.

“None of this would be possible without God, and that’s what we are based upon. Not just giving people food but rather using food as an ice breaker to tell them about God and encourage them.

“The team always gives it their all into changing lives. We thank God for each and every one of them and we pray a blessing over their lives,” said Ellapan.
