Over 890 000 candidates to sit for 2021 NSC exams

With only weeks to go until this year’s National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations get underway, the Department of Basic Education says it expects more than 890 000 candidates to sit for the exams. Three boys charged with rape of mentally challenged girl (12)

Police in Lephalale, Limpopo, have opened a case of rape after a 12-year-old girl was gang-raped by three minors. Police spokesperson Brig Motlafela Mojapelo says the boys are aged between 11–14. Click here for the full story

Bomb scare halts Msibi bail application

A threat that a bomb had been planted at the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court abruptly halted the bail proceedings of Mandla Msibi and his co-accused on Wednesday, October 13. Msibi (45), the former MEC of the Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs in Mpumalanga, has been charged with two counts of murder and one of attempted murder for his alleged role in an incident during September in which two people were shot and killed.
