Kenton Primary netball team in Margate Sports tournament

Kenton Primary student is awarded a certificate as best player in her netball team.

THE u.12 netball team of Kenton Primary School participated in the 2014 Margate Sports tournament, which was held from March 28 to April 2.

Thirty-six teams from all over the country participated in the tournament, playing netball, hockey and rugby. Each netball team played five matches per day at the UGU Sports and Leisure Centre.

The days consisted of highly competitive matches and intensive coaching techniques by Louise du Plessis, who was the coach of the SA Senior Protea team in New Zealand in 1999 and Statebondspele Manchester 2002, as well as umpire at many international matches.

Kenton played against Ottosdal, Morgenzon, AG Visser, Suidies, Fichardtpark Bloemfontein, Bailie Park and Vaalpark with great enthusiasm. This was their first netball tour, which was thoroughly enjoyed and definitely not the last.

No scores were kept and the games were based on fun and friendship. Calista Pearce was awarded a certificate for the best player in her team.

A special thanks on behalf of the team and coach to Spur Brackenhurst for meal vouchers, Nfast for tog bags, Driconeq Germiston for water bottles and Dumbo nursery school for backpacks.
