WATCH: Prayer session outside Netcare Mulbarton Hospital held

The group gathered at the Cuddle Inn Nursery School in Mulbarton before they went to the hospital to pray for the staff, the sick and Covid-19 patients.

Fearless Life Ministries and community members braved the cold night to unite in a prayer session outside Netcare Mulbarton Hospital on July 16.

They were praying for the frontline workers, the sick and Covid-19 patients. All participants at the hospital adhered to Covid-19 regulations and wore masks and practised social distancing.

One of the organisers, Evette Kruger from Fearless Life Ministries NPC, said they have received a lot of requests for prayer and assistance.

“My dad got Covid and on Wednesday. The ambulance came to fetch him and took him to Netcare Mulbarton Hospital. In the last few days, I have just been praying and interceding for him. And because we couldn’t get through to him, we decided to organise a prayer meeting outside the hospital,” said Kruger.

“We posted it on Facebook and people started reaching out saying ‘my son is in hospital, my daughter is in hospital’, so we invited everyone. It was a non-denominational prayer session.

“We organised it for Friday night and I lost my dad the previous evening. So Friday morning people phoned me and said please, I need to go on with the prayer night because we’ve got other lives depending on it.

“My mother and brother got to say goodbye, they were at the hospital, but I never got to say goodbye. So I used Friday night as the opportunity for me to say goodbye and pray for everybody else who was still in the hospital.

“The feedback we got was phenomenal. I had someone phoning me with a testimony that the person’s sister-in-law was in a coma in the hospital and she opened her eyes while we were praying.

“It was just good for me to be able to say goodbye to my dad but also to say thank you to the Lord for what He’s done and His faithfulness. We don’t always understand everything, but at least I know where my dad is. He’s most probably just praising and worshipping in heaven. The journey has been hectic and I got a lot of request as to when are we going back for more prayer at the hospital,” she explained.

More initiatives

Kruger said they have two NPCs: Fearless Life Ministries and Addicts Voice.

“Addicts Voice predominantly works with active addicts on the streets. We use Fearless Life Ministries to distribute food to assist people where we can. We recently partnered with SA Harvest that distributes food like a food bank.

“Weekly we feed about 2 400 people, which includes street outreaches, a soup kitchen and distributing food parcels and clothes. We minister on the streets and build relationships with the people. As soon as they are ready to move away from the streets, we put them into rehabilitation,” she said.
