Alberton aspirant filmmaker gains international recognition

Ntando Ndlovu is in line of being recognised internationally after receiving numerous nominations for his artistic creativity.

Not only is Ntando Ndlovu a creative entrepreneur, he has also added filmmaker to his name and is in line of being recognised internationally for his short films.

The 22-year-old is a 2D animator, screenwriter, model, actor and director. He is also the founder of a fashionable clothing brand, LOVO, which he launched in 2020.

Ndlovu’s involvement in art is his way of sharing his life’s story after overcoming depression.

He told the RECORD his love for film is impassable and that it’s a way he has found to cope with his mental health.
He has been selected as a quarter-finalist in United States’ WIKI screenplay contest and is nominated at Golden Wheat Awards for Best Screenplay.

Ndlovu has also been nominated for the Red Movie awards for best short film and selected as a semi-finalist at the Cult Movies International Film Festival.

He is also a two-time award winner at the Madras Independent Film Festival and a finalist at the 4th Dimension Independent Film Festival.

Young creative

“I began my career as a filmmaker with my brand’s short film, The Mulholland Club, which won Best Editing at the Madras Film Festival. My short films showcase the latest clothing items of my brand. However, the films are a different approach to fashion,” he said.

As director and writer, he said he helps shine a light on individuals with mental health issues through his films.

“In my humble opinion, I figured that is why the screenplay has won awards and nominations because of the power of emotion and education in it while entertaining the audience.

“I try to be inspiring with my dark style. I make films that entertain yet educate, the type you’ll never forget,” said Ndlovu.

He reiterated he hopes to encourage the youth who are striving and fighting for their dreams.
