Jewellery complements your face and style

Diane started selling jewellery a year ago to keep herself busy after she was diagnosed with breast cancer, thankfully she made a full recovery.

Diane Smuts, an independent jeweller from the Fifth Avenue Collection, held a presentation and exhibition on jewellery which suites the shape of a woman’s face on April 9.

She calls it the science of accessorising. “There is nothing wrong with getting all dressed up and having nowhere to go. Always look your best and then you will be ready for anything,” said Diane.

She decided to be more than just a jewellery sales lady. Diane started selling jewellery a year ago to keep herself busy after she was diagnosed with breast cancer, thankfully she made a full recovery.

She explained that if you have an oval face you should avoid wearing earrings which are too long because these will make your face look elongated. Chose a long or short necklace, although a short one would be more appropriate.

The square-shaped face – from curved, drop to dangling earrings, all will suite your face. Add roundness to your face with hoops, long teardrops or multi-layered danglers which will give length to your face.

The long-shaped face need to avoid long earrings because it will highlight the length of your face. Choose circular or triangular earrings because that will add roundness to your face.

The round-shaped face need to wear long and dangling earrings or a square or rectangular earing. Also try wearing a necklace which extends below the neckline.

For the heart-shaped face it is best to wear teardrop, chandelier, circular and triangular earrings. For obvious reasons stay away from heart-shaped earrings or chains. Wear a small chain with pyramid-shaped earrings.

The triangle-shaped face should choose a short and wide styled earing. Avoid long or curved earrings. Choose a choker as a necklace as it will soften your sharp chin.
