Diamond turns up the heat on Carte Blanche

Alberton businessman and Ekurhuleni councillor Neil Diamond lodges complaint against Carte Blanche at BCCSA.

ALBERTON – Alberton businessman and Councillor, Neil Diamond, lodged a complaint with the Broadcasting Complaints Commission of South Africa in March 2014 against a Carte Blanche exposé broadcast on M-Net on February 23, 2014.

His wife Justine and one of her companies, Casino Retail (Pty) Ltd, are also listed as Complainants. The Diamonds claimed their privacy was violated and that they were not granted a fair right of reply on the various accusations leveled against them.

The Diamonds’ Legal Representative, Attorney Andrew Boerner of Jurgens Bekker Attorneys, lodged the complaint with the BCCSA. Boerner stated: “It is our opinion that Carte Blanche are in breach of the BCCSA’s Code of Conduct.

“They presented a programme in which controversial issues were discussed, without making reasonable efforts to fairly present our clients’ opposing points of view.

“We cannot say anything further on the matter, as we have respect for the complaint’s procedure and have the utmost faith in the BCCSA fairly deciding upon the complaint.”
