ALBERTON – According to Times Live, neither the police nor the hawks could immediately confirm Kotze’s arrest.
In trying to reach Kotze for a statement, he was not available to confirm his arrest.
Economic Freedom Fighters Gauteng spokesman Patrick Sindane was reported to have said in a statement, members of the party would support Kotze when he appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court later on Thursday.
“We view this as nothing but the abuse of state machinery and power by certain individuals to settle political scores,” he said.
Kotze reportedly caused a stir on social media earlier this year, being labelled a traitor by some in the Afrikaans community.
Earlier this year, Kotze told the RECORD, “Someone sent me a message that they have a bullet with my name on.”
Since joining the party, he claims he had people following him, possibly trying to kill him.
