Teamwork nets housebreaker, stolen goods recovered

A house robbery took place on Ouderberg Street in Bassonia at about 3 am on Thursday. 

 

“A neighbour’s CCTV camera gave us a visual of the vehicle involved. The CPF Vumacameras confirmed that the vehicle entered the area at 02h45,” said Mike Fontes, Mondeor Sector One Policing Forum chairman.

“Hours later, one of our alert patrollers spotted the wanted vehicle on Main Street in Rosettenville and tailed the vehicle.”

Backup was requested and Guardian Angel Security (GAS) and Fox Security obliged, the prep and his vehicle quickly stopped outside SPAR in Rosettenville.

“Mondeor SAPS CID members were on scene within minutes and the driver of the car was arrested and the vehicle, a blue Nissan Double Cab impounded. The driver was in possession of property stolen hours earlier,” he said.

Two flatscreen Tv’s, expensive liquor, jewelry, and electronic equipment were recovered from the suspect’s premises. A toy gun was also found.
