Mondeor Primary adapts to their new normal

“Mondeor Primary School is blessed with staff who have been supportive and have gone the extra mile to ensure everyone’s safety,” said Tutton.

It may have taken some time to get used to new regulations and a new way of doing and at Mondeor Primary it is full steam ahead in the so called ‘new normal’.

According to Heather Tutton from Mondeor Primary School, life during the pandemic has been tough for the children. However, learners have returned to school to a new normal.

“Mondeor Primary School fulfilled its responsibility to ensure that all health and safety requirements were met. As difficult as it is to adapt to a new normal, we just had to return and carry on with the programmes,” said Tutton.

She said each grade received the required PPEs supplied by the department. The school has enforced stringent methods such as screening before school starts, and again during the school day, distancing between desks, wearing masks and constantly sanitising both hands and desks.

“All grades have been split into two groups which attend school on an alternating five-day cycle for us to social distance. It’s a bit strange not to be able to see all of them in one class. We needed the structure for us to learn.

“Mondeor Primary School is blessed with staff who have been supportive and have gone the extra mile to ensure everyone’s safety,” said Tutton.
