EDEN PARK – The Tobi family knows that every time heavy rains fall, they will sit with the same problem again. The drain gets blocked and human waste bubbles out of the drain at the kitchen door and in the bathroom, leaving the family in a stinking and unhealthy area to live.
“The drain has been our problem and worst enemy for the last 20 years, and had been affecting our neighbours as well. A few years ago the metro council had discovered that the main sewage pipe was wrongfully installed and repair work was done. But the pipe alteration never solved the problem. We are always reporting this problematic drain,” she said.
In 2011 the RECORD published the story of Mrs Tobi’s neighbours, who had their shack filled with human waste coming from the same ‘repaired’ drain. The corner of Brown and Norten streets is always filled with the smelly sewage waste from the blocked drain.
