Turffontein man allegedly dies after drinking home-made alcohol

Booysens SAPS opens inquest into the death of a man.

It has come to the COURIER’s attention that a Turffontein man has allegedly died after drinking home-made alcohol last week

According to Capt Lorraine van Emmerik, communications officer at Booysens SAPS, an inquest has been opened of a man that died.

“The alleged story we were told was he had died after drinking a white substance. A post mortem must be done concerning this and once this is done we will be able to comment,” she said.

A man was arrested the following day for being in possession of alcohol, but he was not arrested for the death, as a post mortem still needs to be done.

“Therefore, this office cannot confirm. If it is true, the inquest will be changed to murder and the investigation will continue.”Once the post mortem has been finalised, we will be able to give you more information,” she said.
