Alberton Record among top Caxton newspapers

Alberton's newspaper, the RECORD, was among the top five Caxton publications in the Category Best Free Newspaper, 24 pages and more.

ALBERTON – The RECORD was given recognition for continuously offering readers quality content and general layout of the newspaper at the 25th Caxton Excellence Awards on Thursday March 13.

Alberton RECORD Editor Carina van der Walt said, “When your newspaper is representative of a company as large as Caxton, competing against many other publications in the Caxton stable, it is an honour to be one of the finalists in such a big category.

“We are proud of a team that excelled in the awards. This is once again proof that we are passionate about the product we bring to our community on a weekly basis.”

Another finalist from the RECORD at the awards is Elizabeth Madonsela in the category Switchboard Operator of the Year.

She said, “Being one of the finalists came as a surprise. I am very happy to be mentioned as one of the best switchboard operators in the company.”

The big winner of the evening was Jurie Hayes, a classifieds sales person who received an award for Best Telesales Person of the Year.

When accepting the award he thanked Caxton Joburg South’s Branch Manager, Christiaan Welthagen, and Classifieds Manager, Logan Govender, for always believing in him.

He said, “Thank you to Christiaan of the Alberton branch, who believed in me.”
