Diamond saga – Fourie pulls out hours after the interview

Antionette Fourie asks the RECORD not to publish her story after a lengthy interview with the reporter.

ALBERTON – In a strange and weird turn of events, the Diamond saga took an unexpected turn and the RECORD was requested not to go ahead and publish Antionette Fourie’s story.

This follows a lengthy interview with Antionette on Thursday, February 27 at the RECORD’s offices where she spilled her heart out to the newspaper with regard to La Montanara and her late husband, Deon Fourie’s estate. Antionette left the RECORD’s offices just before 14:00 and the reporter got the story ready for approval and print.

Within eight ours from her departure, and about two hours after the story was sent to Antoinette as she requested, she replied via e-mail that we must please not go ahead and not to publish the story. Her e-mail stated: “Hou verslag terug tot verdere kennisgewing. Ons sorteer net dokumente uit asb. Sal jou op hoogte hou. Moet asb niks skryf of publiseer nie.”

The RECORD contacted Antionette on Friday morning, (February 28) and all she replied was that she is not ready to go ahead with the story at this moment. She also told the RECORD “I don’t know who to trust anymore.” In a second phone call to Antionette on the same morning, the RECORD requested an interview with her in the presence of her private forensic audit investigator, Hennie Els. Antionette assured the RECORD that she will speak to Els and get back to us.

It is important to note that, in light of new developments in the saga, and contrary to the RECORD’s previous decision, the RECORD took a decision to put Diamonds column in the newspaper on hold.

The RECORD once again assure our readers that we will keep on investigating until such time that this matter has been resolved in a court of law.
