Alberton cricket in top three

Alberton Cricket Club’s Premier League side started the new cricket year in a pretty good spot on the log, namely in the top three. Alberton, together with Jeppe and UJ, set the pace in the Premier League.

ALBERTON – Alberton managed to defeat tough teams like Old Edwardians, Lenasia and Soweto to occupy the third position on the log with 36 points after nine matches.

Alberton is only three points behind Jeppe on 39 after 10 matches. Eight points separate UJ on 44 and Alberton. Wanderers is in fourth position on 35, Pirates fifth on 34, both after ten matches and Old Edwardians sixth on 33.

Alberton, however, has still some tough challenges to sneak past in the second part of the league this year.

Gauteng club cricket season resumed on Sunday January 12, with Alberton Premier League side’s final fixture in the Premier League Limited Overs Group One completion.

It will be against Delfos at Cecil Payne Oval in Maraisburg. Alberton’s next fixture on Sunday January 19 is the opening match of the Premier League Time Group One Competition against Glenvista at home at Alberton Oval.
