‘Begging in large retails shops should be prohibited’

You can't force me to give to you, not even if you follow me around.

Please don’t get me wrong – it is not that I don’t have a heart!

Nor does it mean that I never reach out to help those in need, but begging in large retails shops should be prohibited.

The latest trend among some of the beggars is to follow you around when you are busy with your grocery shopping.

Not only is this extremely weird, but it also places you in a position where they make you feel guilty and really uneasy.

They walk behind you with those lost puppy eyes and make you feel as if you have to give, and as if you have to have two trolleys – one for your family and one for them.

Where does this come from? I work hard for my salary and I also have a family to support, and my family will always come first.

I am of the opinion that stores should take a closer look at their security and make sure these beggars are removed from their stores.

Don’t follow me around trying to force me to give. You are only making me uneasy, which leads to me losing my temper.

If I want to and if I can – I will give. You can’t force me to give.
