Triple the celebration for women’s race on Women’s Day
The Totalsports Women’s Race will be hosted on one day on August 9.
FOR the first time since the event’s inception in 2001, South Africa’s largest Women’s Day celebration, the Totalsports Women’s Race, will be hosted on one day, August 9, across three major cities, Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban.
“We are extremely excited to host the Totalsports Women’s Race on one day across three cities,” said Agne du Plessis, Stillwater Sports’ general manager: road running. “In previous years the event would kick off in Durban in July before heading to Johannesburg and Cape Town. This year we will triple the fun on National Women’s Day with women from all walks of life in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban uniting to take on a 5km or 10km road run or walk in support of PinkDrive.”
“The Totalsports Women’s Race is a fun-filled Women’s Day celebration that encourages a healthy lifestyle and supports PinkDrive,” said Patrick Singh, head of Totalsports’ marketing. “We are proud to host South Africa’s largest Women’s Day celebration and extremely excited to be doing so in three major cities on one day in 2019. This year we will emphasise the message that we are #StrongerTogether. People run for various reasons. Irrespective of the reason, we’d like to invite all women (grandmothers, aunts, sisters, mothers and daughters) to run united as one as we support PinkDrive and raise awareness about breast cancer because we are #StrongerTogether.”

Johannesburg: Mary Fitzgerald Square, Newtown
Starting time: 10km at 8am, 5km at 8.15am
The entry fees for licensed numbers are: 10km, R130; 5km, R100 and for temporary numbers are: 10km, Durban, R160; Johannesburg, R165; Cape Town, R170.
Entries open: April 1 to July 26.
