Explosion at Alberton North factory leaves one dead, one injured

Alberton SAPS are investigating a case of an inquest.

It is alleged that on Saturday afternoon, April 6 at about 14:41 an empty tank trailer transporting petrol and diesel exploded at a factory in Jacoba Street, Alberton North.

Reports from the scene indicate that an adult male began welding a tanker trailer when it exploded.

Two company personnel who were working with the tank are harmed. One was certified dead at the scene and the other taken to the hospital by paramedics.

The third patient sustained minor injuries and was found to be in a stable condition. The patient, however, declined ambulance transportation to the hospital.

Alberton SAPS are investigating a case of an inquest.
