UPDATE: Mother and daughter appear in court on two separate charges

They were arrested on January 14 after the daughter was stopped on Swartkoppies Road for clocking 107km/h in a 70km zone.

THE 28-year-old women arrested for reckless and negligent driving and her 49-year-old mother, who was arrested for interfering with EMPD officers, appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on January 15.

Brackendowns SAPS spokesperson Sgt Lindi Moloi confirmed the court appearance of the two, stating SAPS is still waiting for the docket to come back from court before they can report on the outcome of the mother and daughter’s first appearance.

They were arrested on January 14 after the daughter was stopped on Swartkoppies Road for clocking 107km/h in a 70km zone.

EMPD reported after the woman was stopped, she got out her motor vehicle and demanded to see her readings on the speed camera before she got back into her BMW and locked herself in.

After this, her mother arrived on the scene and according to EMPD reports, the mother started calling arresting officers names.

Backup was called and Brackendowns SAPS responded where the driver was requested to step out of the vehicle before she was arrested along with her mother.

Both were detained at Brackendowns Police Station. Charges against the two include reckless and negligent driving, resisting arrest, failing to furnish information and interfering with officers while on duty.
