Arno Carstens’ call to Alberton rock music fans

"Alberton, come and enjoy our loud and wonderful shows at the Beefstock festival and in the future, too."

GET ready for a new annual three-day music festival – Beefstock – which will be taking place on November 23 to 25 at Bosheuvel Country Estate in Nooitgedacht.

Beefstock will include a line-up of South Africa’s top rock bands, including Francois Van Coke, Springbok Nude Girls, CrashCarBurn, Hellcats, Dirty Moonshine, WONDERboom and The Black Cat Bones. There will also be a market area with two beer tents and a variety of food and drink stalls, lots of which will be selling meat farmed on the festival grounds.

To prepare Albertonians for this great event with great live music, the RECORD had a brief telephonic interview with Springbok Nude Girls’ lead singer and songwriter Arno Carstens. He shared some interesting thoughts.

AR: Since you’ve travelled throughout the country, have you ever been to Alberton?

AC: I can’t say that I have, but I’m sure it’s a nice place.

AR: Do Springbok Nude Girls still perform together often?

AC: Not very often, probably two to four times per year. But, we’ll be releasing a new album next year. It will be called Beautiful Evolution. It will release on Spotify and Apple Music, so please be sure to keep an eye out for that.

AR: Which band(s) inspire you the most? Who would you love to perform with, whether they still exist or not?

AC: There are so many good bands, it’s a very difficult question to answer. The band is very inspired by ’90s punk bands, like Smashing Pumpkins and Pixies, but I’m personally going to have to say that, if we can choose any band to perform with, it’ll have to be The Doors. I’ve always loved their stuff and Jim Morrison is the ultimate rock frontman.

AR: What’s your message to Springbok Nude Girls fans from Alberton?

AC: Alberton, come and enjoy our loud and wonderful shows at the Beefstock festival and in the future, too. It’s high-energy and full of hip. Also, check out our band’s website at www.springboknudegirls.wordpress.com
