Medical expenses are too high

Why do we pay for medical aids?

SOME days I just wonder why I even pay for medical aid?

I chose to get medical aid because I do not want to be that person who goes to a state hospital in South Africa. I also made the choice because I wanted to not pay that much on medicine.

Now, with medical aid – and because it is so expensive and all schemes do not cover the same – I end up paying far more, and sometimes everything.

Why can’t the people of South Africa just get free medical treatment like in other countries? Having a medical aid should put you on the safe, or rather safer side – but what will medical aids actually end up paying if you do end up in a hospital?

We just pay for nothing. Or maybe I am with the wrong medical aid. This is so frustrating.
