Two souls united – Wesley was laid to rest on June 29 and Alfred on July 12

They were both buried in Alberton Cemetery.

LOSING a son is heartbreaking and then losing a father days later, is double the heartache.

Erika Steinhöbel spoke to the Comaro CHRONICLE about her son Wesley and father Alfred Steinhöbel who died.

“Wesley (22) lost his life in a motorcycle accident in Comaro Street, Glenvista on June 22,” said Erika.

She described Wesley as a fun, loving boy who had many friends. He attended St Martin’s Preparatory School, Alberton High School and for his matric year, Abbotts College Joburg South. Afterward, he studied part-time through Unisa and went into retail.

“He loved vaping and anything associated with it. New flavours excited him. I always wanted him to buy a car but motorbikes were his thing,” said Erika, explaining he’d owned quite a few.

Wesley was in a relationship with Monica Hedder before he died and Erika said they shared some great moments together.

Erika’s father, Alfred (78), lived all his life in Alberton before retiring to Nigel.

“He died in the Union Hospital after a short illness on July 3. I’m glad he didn’t have to suffer too long, that would have been awful for him.”

She described her dad as a man who enjoyed arts, crafts and gardening.

“He spent hours in his garden after he retired and really did have green fingers.”

Wesley was laid to rest on June 29 and Alfred on July 12. They were both buried in Alberton Cemetery.

Erika would like to thank Tammy du Plooy and Jessica Vermaak for all their love and support through this tragic time in her life and for giving her the strength to carry on.
