A first for women boxing in South Africa

For the first time two women boxers will be seen in the main event in South Africa under the auspices of Boxing South Africa, BSA, presented and organised by Unleashed Combat Sport Events.

TOPPING the card on a boxing event is a major plus point for your professional career, but if the main fight is given to female boxers to showcase their talents, it is a major boost for women sport in South Africa.

For the first time two women boxers will be seen in the main event in South Africa under the auspices of Boxing South Africa, BSA, presented and organised by Unleashed Combat Sport Events.

Hedda Wolmarans and Kholosa Ndobayini will be seen in a rematch in the super lightweight division over six rounds at “Let’s Talk in the Ring” boxing tournament on June 9 at the Portuguese Hall.

The event will start at 12 noon and will feature nine bouts.

“We are over the moon to have our female boxers featuring in the main event of the afternoon,” said well-known trainer Colin Nathan from Hot Box gymnasium, “It is a first for South Africa and the promoters are moving in the right direction. We need more of this and hopefully the female boxers are recognised in this way to improve their skills.”

Wolmarans and Ndobayini will meet for the second time after a rematch was called on their first fight. Wolmarans won the first bout, but according to the trainer of Ndobayini, Siya Nqoba gymnasium, they have something up their sleeve to take down Wolmarans.

The two attracted their own fraternity of fans and promised that on Saturday the group will even be bigger.

In the undercard of the day, Mike Schutte (junior) will take on Danny Ngokwey in a heavyweight contest over six rounds.

The other bouts are Tristan Truter vs Valentino Mutunda, Hafeni Linus Gerhard vs Hendriques Lando, Siya Mabena vs Rigend Champion, Bouckson Bukasa vs Kose Thaba, Lebo Mashitoa vs Beleshay Serge Mukanya, Lybon Ricky Ntshani vs Luvo Piliso and Anthony Grobler vs Njabulo Marile.
