The first suspect, a 39-year-old man, was arrested in the early hours of May 20 at his residence in Mayberry Park and appeared in court on May 22. The case was postponed to today, May 28, for his bail hearing.
The second suspect, the girlfriend of the accused aged 37, was arrested on May 28 on charges of defeating the ends of Justice. According to Sergeant Lindi Moloi, spokesperson for Brackenhurst SAPS, the suspect was cleaning up the blood on the scene as police officers arrived.
During court proceedings the charges were changed and both suspects are now being charged with murder and obstruction of justice.
The suspects applied for bail on the grounds that they must take care of their two children. Bail was granted to the suspects at R15Â 000 for the man and R5Â 000 for the woman. They are both to report to Brackendowns SAPS on Mondays and Fridays between 6am and 7pm to ensure they do not flee the country.
