GALLERY: Barn owls get released at Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve
Another two owls have been helped thanks to the Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve and EcoSolutions.
THE Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve took part in its first owl release on April 28 whereby two Tyto Alba Barn Owls were placed into a release box.
The owls will be fed daily by the staff and released into the nature reserve after three weeks. Safring rings were also placed on the owls to monitor them. Every year EcoSolutions receives young owls that have found their way into captivity via organisations like the SPCA or other rehabilitation centres.

After the appropriate rehabilitation process, these owlets are released. This is the focus of the EcoSolutions Owl Release Programme. Suitable sites are chosen and the young owls are ringed and then released into the urban environment from which they have come.
These specific two owls are privileged to be able to rehabilitate at the nature reserve among nothing but nature where they can feel most at home. Members of the public gathered at the reserve to watch and listen to EcoSolutions representatives who spoke a bit about the project and introduced people to the owls. They then placed the Safring rings on the birds and placed them into the release box.
