Man shot dead in second attempt

In February he was shot seven times and was released from hospital two weeks ago.

A 26-YEAR-OLD man was gunned down on April 19 in the second attempt on his life. In February, Paisley Holmes was shot seven times at the corner of Petersen and Jackson streets and was hospitalised until two weeks ago when he was released.

Eden Park police were summoned to Edenmews flats on the evening when two men were shot by unknown gunmen who fled the scene.

Residents at the flats told the RECORD that they were watching 7 de Laan when they heard gunshots and a car speeding off. When they went outside, they found two men with gunshot wounds. Paisley, one of the victims, died on the scene.

It has been reported that Paisley was with his younger brother (aged 19) when they were ambushed at the flats by the gunmen who shot Paisley in the chest and the younger brother, who tried to intervene was shot in the leg. The family fear that his leg may have to be amputated.

“Just two weeks ago Paisley was discharged from hospital only to be shot dead. These unknown gunmen shot him two months ago thinking he was dead. They took nothing from him or his car and just fled,” said a family member who asked not to be named.

It is alleged by some residents of the flats that they noticed a car, driven by a woman, stopping outside the flat’s premises and a man, who got out of the car apparently entered the premises through the side gate. Shortly after that, gunshots echoed through the evening silence.

Police reported that by the time they arrived at the scene, Paisley was already dead. The deceased was taken to Germiston Mortuary by forensic pathology services.

A case of murder and attempted murder is being investigated by Eden Park SAPS. Anyone with any information is urged to come forward and contact Eden Park SAPS 011 385 2988. All information will be treated as confidential.
