Community urged to attend mayoral imbizo

A date us yet to be confirmed for the mayoral imbizo.

I have just gone through the latest issue of the Alberton Record, and it is so frustrating to see how the residents and faithful ratepayers of Ekurhuleni are being disadvantaged by the lack of action from Ekurhuleni on all the serious issues raised by the community.

These issues include non-functioning street and traffic lights, illegal mechanical workshops, the non-functional Licensing Department, grass which is being cut and left to pile up (blocking the stormwater drains) and, most of all, the Alberton Boulevard, which looks like a war zone.

Alberton Boulevard has been a request on my Integrated Development Plan budget for many years, but nothing has come of it and the Boulevard is now a total disgrace.

The Alberton councillors are doing their best to tackle these problems on a regular basis, but with little to no cooperation from our municipality. The mayor (who also lives in Alberton) has made many promises to my countless requests for funding for the Boulevard.

I am now pleading for the community’s assistance if we are to see our Alberton CBD come back to life.

A date is yet to be confirmed for the mayoral imbizo in the West Hall of the Alberton Civic Centre. To my understanding, the mayor will be the person deployed to run this meeting.

I would therefore like to invite all interested and affected community members to take part in this meeting. Do not miss this opportunity to make your voice heard.
