GLASS FROGS: These frogs live primarily in trees in Central and South America. Their bellies are see-through, so you can see their organs from beneath. However, their backs are green to disguise them among the tree leaves.
KIDS, did you know that transparent creatures are basically nature’s invisible superheroes? They are fascinating and beautiful and it took millions of years’ evolution for them to have this superpower. Here are five of the strangest, coolest see-through creatures.
ICEFISH: In the Southern oceans, where waters are as cold as the inside of a deep-freezer, lives see-through icefish. They really look like they’re made of ice, and they’re just as cold. They have antifreeze-glycoprotein in their blood to stop ice crystals from forming on or inside their bodies.MOON JELLYFISH: Appearing as luminous globes when they gather in the water, a group of these brainless jellyfish look breath-taking. They can be found in the waters of European and North American seas. Their insides are bright and can be seen through their bodies – the boys have white organs and the girls have pink ones.GLASS OCTOPUSES: Found gathered in tropical and sub-tropical waters, not much else is known about these animals. They are mysterious and elusive. They have peculiar, tube-like eyes that point upwards. This gives them great eyesight to help them hide from nearby predators.GLASSWING BUTTERFLIES: They are such gorgeous butterflies from Central and South America that migrates long distances each year. Their wings are outlined; otherwise they’d be completely invisible whilst sitting on flowers.
