Traffic light on Swartkoppies Road a frustration

According to a motorist, traffic is hectic in the morning.

MOTORISTS are concerned and frustrated due to the fact that so many traffic lights on Swartkoppies Road and other streets in Alberton are not always working.

“I drive up Lincoln Road, which becomes Phantom street, which takes you to Alberton High and Alberview. That traffic light is a nightmare in the morning for us who are trying to cross over Swartkoppies as it only allows maximum five cars (if you are lucky) to go through, then it changes,” said a motorist.

According to her, it’s becoming dangerous as taxis are now in the turning lane on the right and pushing in front of them who are trying to get across the road. “I stay less than 2kms from my child.s school yet it sometimes takes me 30 minutes to get to school because of that traffic light. There are a lot of people staying in the complexes in New Market Park and I think that the traffic light was synced before these complexes were built. And something else which I picked up was that the name Phantom is spelled incorrectly if coming from Swartkoppies turning right onto Lincoln Road,” she concluded.

The RECORD drove by and also noted that the street’s name is spelled incorrectly.
