Mindful kids: Five of the most dangerous animals in SA

If you ever see them, beware.

HEY kids! Do you know which are the most dangerous animals out there?

Today, we’re looking at five of the most dangerous animals that live in South Africa. If you ever see them or come across any of them when you may be travelling, beware.

MOSQUITOES: This may sound surprising because mosquitoes are so tiny. Don’t be fooled – they cause the death of around 600 000 to a million people per year, especially in Sub-Saharan Africa, as they spread malaria.
HIPPOS: Hippos are very territorial if humans come close, especially if there are hippo babies nearby. They have enormous jaws. Hippos kill around 3 000 people per year.
BUFFALOES: Be careful of buffaloes, because they are quite aggressive by nature. Their horns are huge and they are powerful runners. Don’t get in their way – they kill around 200 people per year.
BABOONS: Baboons are very intelligent and their genetic profile only differs six percent from humans. Their jaws are so strong that their bites can easily break your bones. Baboons kill around 100 people per year.
