Drugs found in Benz Street

“The man was found with drugs worth between R5 000 and R10 000 and R3 750 cash."

THE past few weeks have been a very busy time for Eden Park SAPS, Ekuhurleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) and the flying squad targeting drug dealers in Eden Park and surrounding areas.

On November 28 they targeted a house in Benz Street and their hit was successful. A 24 year-old man was arrested with drugs and cash.

Capt Vusi Mhlophe of Eden Park SAPS confirmed the arrest of the 24-year-old man and said: “The man was found with drugs worth between R5 000 and R10 000 and R3 750 cash. The drugs were hidden near two vicious dogs which had to be subdued by the SPCA before the drugs could be retrieved.”

Acting on a tip-off a week before this arrest, the police tried to make a hit on the same house but found nobody. A week later they returned and hit the jackpot.

“This is the third raid on this house in Benz Street,” said Mhlophe.

“Our first was on August 28 when we arrested a 19-year-old girl with drugs worth R50 000. A man had thrown R6 000 cash at the police and ran away. But this time, luck was not on his side.

“He will appear in the Palmridge Magistrate’s Court on November 29,” Mhlophe concluded.
