One year without Ané

One year later and nothing has come to light

IT has been just over a year since the murder of Ané Diana Jacobs (16) and still no positive results or arrests.

Her bruised body was found half-naked in a veld close to the Alberton rugby and soccer clubs, about 500m from the soccer club, in Alberton on Tuesday, November 1, 2016. Her cosmetics bag was found a few metres from her body.

Ané went missing on October 29 and her picture had been circulating on social media since the Pink Ladies organisation shared her poster.

BEAUTIFUL SOUL: Albertonians, friends and family are still looking for answers to the questions surrounding Ané’s murder.

According to Facebook posts from one of her friends, she was last seen at a club in Alberton North on that fateful Saturday night. She was a learner from Hoërskool Alberton.

Her family is desperate to know what happened to their beloved Ané, but no further information has come to light.

A social media page, Justice for Ane Diana Jacobs, was created and throughout 2017 friends and family shared their messages for her.

TATTOO: Ané’s best friend Stephane du Plessis got this tattoo earlier this year.

On November 1 this year the following was posted on the page:

  • Elise Jacobs – “Today what the day that we got the call can’t believe its been a year. Sussa ek mis jou oneindig baie. Eks bitter bja lief vir jou en wens ek kon tyd terug draai en jou beskerm het. Jy sal my engel sus bly vir altyd #bloodforlife #susiesviraltyd

Anybody with any information is urged to contact the investigating officer, Capt Redelinghuys, on 083 459 6877, or the Alberton SAPS on 011 861 6800.

Every time the RECORD enquired about the case during the past year, the RECORD was assured that the SAPS and investigating officers were following all leads and that they were still investigating.

The RECORD has again requested comment on Ané’s case and it will be published as soon as it is received.
