EKURHULENI Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) responded to the complaint about the constant noise in Sabie Street.
The RECORD reported about this on September 29 where neighbours are frustrated after they’ve tried a couple of times to solve the noise problem.
According to a resident, who wishes to stay anonymous, a taxi driver who lives in the house has been playing loud music in the early hours of the mornings. “We called the police and then it is quiet for a while but soon the music is played loud again.”
“We do not want him to not party or play music but at least turn the volume down and respect the people around you,” the resident said.
On September 17 the loud music stopped at 4.30am. “All we want is for you to respect the other people around you and think about the people with babies and the elderly,” said the resident.

The RECORD visited the house on September 20 at 9.20am to get the resident’s side of the story but he wasn’t at home.
EMM replied as follows:
“The area environmental health practitioner investigated the complaint about loud music and partying on Sabie Street, Brackendowns.
The owner of the premises was informed about the anonymous complaint and media enquiry. His response was that he did not hear the music and that sometimes loud music is played in cars in the street and other premises.
He also indicated that he will speak to his children staying in the house to lower the volume when playing music.
A request was forwarded to Johan Dorfling to send a team from the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department to monitor the Brackendowns area during routine patrols,” said Themba Gadebe, spokesperson/senior media manager from EMM.
