Two arrested for man escape from court

Two men suspected of having helped murder and house robbery-accused Vusimuzi Genge to escape from the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court have been arrested.

PALM RIDGE – Independent Online (IOL) reported, “Genge’s escape – which investigating officer Warrant Officer Peet Venter of the Hawks said was clearly ‘planned long ago’ – apparently took place from the court’s holding cells on Monday.”

Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said the Hawks were appealing to the public for information that might lead to the arrest of the ‘most dangerous’ Genge.

“The suspect is about 1.9m tall and well built. He is considered aggressive and dangerous. Members of the public are warned not to confront him, but to contact the police when they see him,” he said.

Anyone with information may contact Venter on 071 603 8808, or 011 951 1939. Information can also be forwarded anonymously to Crime Stop at 086 001 10111 or SMS Crime Line at 32211.
