Eden Park library ceiling is life threatening

Repair work will start soon.

“We fear for our lives when we visit Eden Park library because the ceiling could cave in and fall on us resulting in a fatal catastrophe,” said most residents who visit the library daily.

An anonymous caller contacted the RECORD to ask that the ceiling at the library be checked. The caller said the library had become a life-threatening trap. The librarian, Michael Sekomane, alleged that contractors had discovered that the roof was leaking. Upon inspection they found tons of bird waste in the ceiling which caused the ceiling to cave in and fall.

“We realised the danger the falling ceiling posed and that is why we cornered off the affected area. The leaking water plus the many bird droppings put a lot of weight on the ceiling. The roof has been repaired and holes have closed to keep the doves out. Repair of the ceiling will start any day now,” said Sekomane.

The librarian later reported that the repair work on the damaged ceiling will be done during the course of the long weekend when the library will be closed to the public. He said the library will be back to normal after the long weekend when construction will have been completed.

The RECORD has requested comment from EMM.
