Meter problems leave household in the dark

Flip du Plessis from Mayberry Park was left without electricity after a continuous problem he has had with his meter.

MAYBERRY PARKHe contacted Ekurhuleni but the problem had not been seen on their side. Eventually, according to Flip, between 19:00 and 20:00, someone arrived to sort out the problem, but the Ekurhuleni representative was unable to open the electrical box which is situated about two houses up the road.

He informed Flip that this must have been due to the moving of the meter box from the inside of his property to the outside. Flip called a technician who came to fix the electrical problem but still no electricity.

On Tuesday there was still no response from EMM so on Wednesday at 07:00, Flip went out of his way to seek help from the municipality with regards to the on-going problem, but still, no feedback had been given. Flip’s main concern remains the problem of being without electricity for three days.

“Because of this, I am sitting without any electricity,” said Flip on October 16, “and there is no danger tape around these new meter systems.”

The electricity was functioning by October 18 and Flip hopes that it remains this way.
