South, Alberton schools already full for 2017

Information parents must read for ECD, Primary School and High School.

MEC Panyaza Lesufi delivers the last statement before matric results will be announced. Many learners were migrated to Gauteng from Limpopo by parents – following those disruptive and violent protests in Vuwani, Limpopo. Budget is upgraded by R200 million, and the money will be used to hire more teachers and used to pay for electricity and water.

With regard to the online registration, some parents are creating a backlog by neither accepting or rejecting the schools available because they did not get their first choice preference. Almost 15 000 parents still have not accepted or rejected the school.

In Johannesburg South , schools in Brackenhurst, Brackendowns, Glenanda, Mulbarton, Eden Park and Palm Ridge are full and parents are urged to accept the available places so that their children can be placed.

About 8 846 parents have not yet submitted the requisite documents to schools where they applied.

Schools in Gauteng will start with ECD classes. These classes will be built in schools.

Six hundred and three new classes will be built to accommodate children with disabilities. Three hundred and fourteen grade R new classrooms will also be built in 2017.

Good news for 2017 matrics is that all grade 11 and 12 textbooks are already bought, “No child will run short,”  said the MEC. Stationery delivery is also at 100 per cent.

All learners received their reports today. MEC encourages parents to spend Christmas bonuses wisely and to make sure their children are equipped for the first day of school in 2017.
