Newborn baby dumped in plastic bag

The body of a newborn baby girl was found by a man collecting plastic to recycle.

THE small body of a newborn baby girl was found on the corner of Lambretta and Shabbir Banoobhai streets, in Riemvasmaak Extension Five, on Monday, November 14.

The dumped baby was discovered among rubbish bags which were put out to be collected by a man collecting plastic to recycle.

A source on the scene told the RECORD that the man called her to come and look what he found in one of the rubbish bags.

“I called other women and we could see that was a baby which could have been born the previous night,” said the source, who wishes to remain anonymous.

“How cruel can a mother be by dumping the baby she carried for nine months.”

Bystanders argued and debated that the baby was born somewhere else and dumped there, to give the impression that the mother is from the area.

All the women agreed that nobody knew of a woman or young girl who was pregnant and due to deliver.

The Eden Park SAPS is investigating a case of concealment of birth.

The baby girl’s body was removed by the mortuary van.
